ABOUT KENJGEWIN TEG
Kenjgewin Teg is an Indigenous-led educational institution located on Mnidoo Mnising (Manitoulin Island), Ontario. ABOUT THE ELMC PROJECT
Kenjgewin Teg is developing culturally grounded micro-credentials for Indigenous Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) through the Early Learning Micro-Credentials (ELMC) project. The curriculum is being built with community input to ensure that it reflects the values, experiences, and cultural knowledge of Anishinaabe communities. The goal is to integrate Anishinaabemowin and Anishinaabe Aadziwin into early childhood education, fostering a strong sense of identity and connection to culture for young children. Through this project, we aim to support ECEs through professional development and capacity building, while promoting lifelong learning and community-driven education.

Introduction
Kenjgewin Teg invites qualified instructional designers or firms to collaborate on the development of micro-credentials for the Kenjgewin Teg Anishinaabe Early Learning Micro-credentials initiative. This contractual opportunity requires a commitment of 80-120 hours per month and is intended to be long-term. The role focuses on creating culturally grounded Anishinaabemowin Early Learning Micro-Credential courses. This

project aims to support the revitalization of Anishinaabemowin and advance the professional development of early childhood educators in First Nation communities.

Project Overview
This micro-credential will provide foundational knowledge and practical strategies for integrating Anishinaabemowin into early learning environments. The instructional designer will work closely with curriculum writers to ensure the program reflects Anishinaabe worldviews and indigenous Early Childhood Education.

Scope of Work
The selected instructional designer will:

o Design a modular micro-credential program (e.g., 3–5 modules).

o Integrate Anishinaabemowin language and cultural content authentically and respectfully.

o Create facilitator and learner guides, insert multimedia resources, and evaluation tools.

o Design and develop interactive learning content to engage learners.

o Facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective manner.

o Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology in Higher Education

o Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models

o Solid knowledge of course development software

o Familiar with course design in D2L Brightspace online learning platforms

o Basic HTML knowledge is an asset

o Familiarity with badging and digital credentialing systems is an asset

o Certificate in Instructional Design and/or a Bachelor of Education is preferred

Deliverables

o Implementation of a minimum of 8 micro-credential courses, ranging from 10 hours to 42 hours per course.

o Instructional design plan and timeline.

o Draft and final versions of all learning modules.

o Facilitator and learner support materials.

o Assessment tools and rubrics.

o Final report with implementation recommendations.

Project Timeline and Course Delivery Schedule
The development and revision of micro-credential courses must adhere to the following schedule:

· All edits and completion of the micro-credential courses are required to occur between July 24, 2026 and March 31, 2027.

· Among these, two priority courses must be finalized by July 24, 2026. These courses should be prepared for pilot implementation beginning July 31, 2026.

Proposal Requirements
Proposals must include:

o Cover letter and detailed resume

o Profile of the individual or organization, including relevant experience.

o Description of approach and methodology.

o Work plan and timeline.

o Budget and fee structure.

o Examples of similar projects or portfolios.

o References (minimum of 2).

Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:

o Experience in Indigenous education and language revitalization.

o Instructional design expertise, especially in early learning and micro-credentials.

o Cultural competency and community engagement approach.

o Quality and feasibility of the proposed methodology.
