Over the school year, Rocky View Schools (RVS) has enhanced computer and technology infrastructure to support learning.

According to RVS, their Technology for Learning department is committed to ensuring staff and students have up-to-date devices to support student-centred, personalized, authentic learning.

“During the 2023/24 school year, the department replaced aging devices in the core infrastructure, leading to more stable and robust systems. Portable computers, school projectors and school desktop computers were replaced as part of the division’s annual evergreening plan,” stated RVS.

Before the end of the school year, 49 new school websites and a new corporate website were established in collaboration with the communications department. These websites offer users quick access to the data they require as well as a glimpse into the learning environment and school culture.

To guarantee dependable and consistent uptime, the infrastructure team keeps an eye on the functionality of apps and systems, enabling teachers to seamlessly train students in the classroom. Throughout the year, the team successfully maintained 100 per cent uptime (reliability) for critical systems.

A strong infrastructure supports technology in alignment with RVS’s Strategic Plan and Alberta Education’s Learning and Technology Policy Frameworks.

Recently, RVS was asked to contribute to the construction of the artificial turf field at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park during the most recent meeting.

With a $4.6 million budget, the City of Airdrie is currently funding the renovation; they anticipate that RVS will contribute $13% ($600,000) of the field’s final funding.

If the money is donated, the city will acknowledge it with conspicuous signage, events for stakeholders, and the maintenance of top-priority funding for RVS, varsity, and intramural use.

According to the City, the new artificial turf field will be accessible to the public in time for the September start of the following school year.
