The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has reiterated the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) dedication to enhancing education through increased investment in its schools nationwide.
Adeniyi made this statement on Thursday while chairing the official launch of “Business Geek: Innovative Incubator From Concept to Reality”, a book authored by Asma’u Isah Maibasirah, wife of a senior NCS officer, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
In his speech, Adeniyi underscored the importance of quality education for national development, highlighting the NCS’s ongoing efforts to renovate and build primary and secondary schools across the country. He stressed that every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to a good education and that the Customs Service is committed to allocating resources to support this mission.
The CGC also praised Maibasirah’s book for offering valuable insights into entrepreneurship and innovation, key components in addressing Nigeria’s unemployment crisis.
“There is something in this book that we must pay serious attention to,” Adeniyi stated, noting the book’s relevance in fostering a culture of business creativity and entrepreneurship, particularly among Nigeria’s youth.
He further linked the book’s focus on small-scale enterprises to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic agenda of empowering small businesses.
Adeniyi pledged NCS’s support in ensuring the book reaches a broader audience and promised to assist with the provision of printed copies as needed.
During the event, Professor Muhammad Aliyu Paiko, Vice-Chancellor of Abdulkadir Kure University in Minna, Niger State, lauded the book as an insightful and well-researched resource, beneficial for both intellectuals and students.
He praised the author’s thorough approach to presenting ideas that resonate with academic and professional audiences alike.
The book’s author, Dr. Maibasirah, expressed her deep gratitude to Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, who represented First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at the event. She acknowledged the First Lady’s unwavering support in bringing the book to fruition, as well as the backing of the CGC and his team throughout the publishing process.
She also extended thanks to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, who served as the Chief Launcher, and other guests who contributed to the event’s success.
According to Maibasirah, the book is a crucial addition to discussions on entrepreneurship and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a path to economic growth.
The event brought together participants from diverse sectors, providing a platform for discussing strategies to enhance entrepreneurial skills and leverage innovation for national development.
